I saw that sign when I was on the beltway yesterday. I understand the concept, but my first reaction was "there's like 6 lanes going each way. This is not a good place for a bus stop."

Come on MDOT, we need more relevant content on Beltway signs! There aren’t any schools on the Beltway! They might be *near* the Beltway but that doesn’t count. We’re too busy not getting to ou r destinations very quickly to worry about things like schools.

It was surprisingly smooth sailing, but I was just going around the western side of the beltway and up 270, and that was at maybe 10AM. Usually when I go through there it's late at night.

That’s my commute home, except since I live off Rockville Pike, sometimes I skip 270 and keep going around the Beltway to Old Georgetown and head to to the Pike from there.

I was coming back from a weekend in NC. I broke up the drive into 2 days and got a hotel in Fredericksburg VA. So I ended up going 95 to 495 to 270 all the way to Frederick MD. From there I took US 15 to Harrisburg, where I got back on the interstate and took it to Allentown. It’s only slightly longer than going up 95, and there are no tolls.

I used to live in Greenville NC and regularly drive back to Allentown PA to visit friends and family since that's where I'm from (and where I currently live). I've made that drive many times, taking many combinations of roads. I like variety in my long distance drives.
